Spring Into Cottage Season

Arriving at the cottage for "May 24" now is far different than what I remember as a young child.
My siblings and I have all grown up on Playfair Island on lake Joseph and it occurred to me that island living has never been so easy. I had to be in Collingwood for a waterfront listing appointment and departed shortly after on Thursday - when I left, I went to google maps to see my estimated time of arrival so my brother, Matthew could come and grab me from Gordon Bay Marina at 6:28pm.
This is so different from when we were children when there was no electricity, let alone a phone on the island growing up. Back in the day, we would have to plan an exact meeting time at the landing and bouy-O-bouy someone always had to wait for you or you for them.
As I arrived yesterday, Matthew pulled up to the dock with perfect timing and we skipped over to the island. Upon arrival I was reminded further of how island life has changed so much... I rolled in and instantly was connected to WiFi and although this has been a struggle in the past it is now commonplace.
WiFi at the island is something I could have never imagined growing up here but now it offers ALL of us the ability to spend more time in the places we love the most.
I wish you and your family a wonderful long weekend and hopefully this summer you will be able to spend a few more days in the place you love the most, and "WiFi", funnily enough is the reason.
This is the only time I am going to say this "Thank you Bell Canada" for providing my friends and family with those extra days which always create memorable moments that would have never occurred otherwise.
Stay Great my friends,
Storey Badger
